On October 31, 2012, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced his appointments to the City of Chicago Advisory Council on Veterans Affairs. These appointees represent a diverse number of community and business leaders from across the city. In November, James Flagg, RMU Veterans Affairs Representative and Admissions Counselor, was one of the newly appointed council members.
James, a veteran of the Illinois National Guard, joined RMU in January 2011 to assist military veterans through the admissions and benefits process. James is a faculty advisor of Warriors to Scholars, the Robert Morris University student veterans club. He co-chairs the annual Illinois Warrior Summit & Welcome Home Celebration, one of the largest free veteran support events in the State of Illinois. Last June he was appointed to the Illinois Secretary of State Veterans’ Advisory Council.
