Women's Hockey Announces 2006 Freshman Class
Robert Morris women's hockey head coach John Burke announced that 7 prospective student athletes have enrolled at Robert Morris College for the fall 0f 2006."With the addition of these skilled players, I feel we have taken a huge step forward in our goal to regain the ACHA National Championship" said Burke.
Bridget Katz, a 5'5" forward from Cambridge, MN. played 5 years of varsity hockey, splitting her time between Hill-Murray and Cambridge-Isanti. While at Cambridge Katz received the Ms Hustle Award as an 8th grader, and was the teams leading scorer and named to the All Conference Honorable Mention as a junior. Her senior year Katz was voted team captain, finished the year as the team's leading scorer, and received All Conference Honors. Katz was also a member of the 2005 Minnesota Junior Festival Team and played for the Minnesota Selects for 3 years.
Tricia Cain, a 5'7 forward from St Joseph Island, ON. has been playing hockey for 13 years, beginning her career in 1993 with the North Channel Hockey Association. In 2001 Cain was the recipient of the Syl Apps Award for Volunteerism, Leadership, and Sports. In 2002 Cain moved on to play for the Sauté St. Marie Midget AA team, where she had a stellar 3-year career. In her final year of school Cain played boys’ varsity hockey for the Central Algoma Huskies, and was a first line forward. In addition to her hockey career, Cain is also a championship speed skater, winning the 2001 Canadian Championships in St Johns, BC.
Julie Scott, a 5'4 forward from Lacrosse, WI. played 4 years of varsity hockey for Onalaska High School. Scott’s team qualified for the Wisconsin State Tournament all 4 years. In 2005 and 2006 Scott helped Onalaska finish as Wisconsin State Tournament Runner-Up. Scott received the Best Hands Award in 2005, and the Team Leader Award in 2006, and finished 2006 with 20 points. Scott was also a member of the 2006 Central District Team at the Chicago Showcase Tournament.

Jackie Holmes, a 5'6" forward from Carol Stream, IL. Played last season for the NCAA D1 University of Maine Black Bears. Holmes was a graduate of Culver Academy, where she played varsity hockey for 3 years. Holmes hockey career also included a successful stint with Team Illinois, where Holmes won 4 straights Illinois State Hockey Championships.
Justine Smith, a 5"10 defenseman from Cranbrook, B.C., played for the Warner School of the Southern Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League. The Warriors were the 2005 and 2006 AMMFHL League and Tournament Champions. Before her career at Warner, Smith played women's midget AAA hockey for the B.C Icebreakers, and the Fernie Bladerunners. Smith was also a member of the 2005 B.C Best Ever U17 Team.
Ashley Miller, a 5'7" goalie from Estevan, SK., played boys' midget A hockey for the Benifait Eagles for the past two years. As a member of the Eagles, Miller posted an 18-1-0 record, leading her team to the semifinals of the league playoffs and the quarterfinals at the Provincials in 2004.Miller also played 3 years for the Estevan Extreme Midget AA, compiling a record of 51-22-10, and was voted to the South Central Minor Hockey League 1st All-Star Team in 2003.
