So the holidays are officially over with the ringing of the New Year! This New Year’s Eve, I had dinner with a friend downtown. I dressed up for the occasion and even had my hair styled for the night. I felt like a princess all dressed up. My dress and jewelry resembled the old Hollywood fashion, classy and elegant. The rest of the Downtown Chicago crowd also dressed to impress. The women had pretty dresses with their high high heels. The men were equally dressed up in their shirts and ties. The atmosphere was fun and people were happy to be out.
With the start of the New Year, come the infamous New Year’s resolutions. My resolutions are simple. I resolute not to make resolutions that do not last more than two weeks. Instead, I will try to be a more conscientious student and try to avoid last minute homework assignments. I will also try to help out more with my community and to focus on others around me. These are not the only resolutions I have but they are a start. There are a lot of other things which I would like to accomplish this year, and I am looking forward to working on them.
What resolutions, if any, did you plan for the year? You can e-mail me a response at firstname.lastname@example.org or twitter at blackhawksgirl0.
I wish everyone a Happy New Year and I look forward to hearing from you.

Graduating on-time and Morris Women
Things worked out in the end regarding my class scheduling. I am going to graduate in mid-July of 2012. It’s exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. I enjoy my school and being a part of the RMU community. It’s also nice to finish something that I worked hard on for the past few years.
Other exciting news, Morris Women has been approved by RMU as an official student organization. Lots of work and help went into organizing Morris Women and getting final approval. I thank everyone who believed in the idea and helped accomplish this goal. Now it’s time to start planning events, forums, panels, and helping the RMU community. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions about events or programs they would like to see please let me know that would be deeply appreciated. You can send an e-mail to me at email@example.com.
Other than that, just trying to survive the weather and get through the last few weeks of classes! Keep warm everyone and be safe! Cheers!

As a graduate student you are bestowed with the honor of scheduling your own classes according to the required courses based on your degree and concentration. For the planners this is fun, but if you are disorganized or misinformed, planning your class schedule can be a pain.
I happen to fall into both categories. I enjoy planning and mapping out class grids, however, I am mapping out class schedules without the correct information. I am down to four classes left of my graduate degree. Two quarters left, that feels so good to say out loud! However, during my schedule creation, I noticed that the classes I need are all scheduled on the same day and are not being offered in the Spring quarter. This is a major road block. I was supposed to finish my degree in July, but with the way classes are scheduled not sure that is going to happen. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy school and learning, but at the same time I would like to say “I am finish,” “Je suis fini!” I guess I shouldn’t tempt fate, but I am trying to work with my graduate counselor and trying to figure out something. I take comfort in knowing that there are a few other students who are having the same problem. I will find out how this all works out this week.
Other than that, I am having a difficult quarter. I am struggling with both Statistics and Project Management classes. These two classes are difficult and require so much work. I have been eating and breathing Stats and PM for the last few weeks!
Also, I am working on getting the Morris Women Organization approved. The application has been submitted and now we are just waiting for a response so we can start planning forums and panels. If anyone is interested in participating or would like to make suggestions about events they would like to see at RMU, send me an e-mail. Rodrn222@robertmorris.edu or twitter at @blackhawksgirl0.
