Three renowned service organizations gave presentations on their involvement and efforts for the less fortunate to RMU students during an information event.  Students heard from representatives from CARE, Concern Worldwide US and Franciscan Outreach, sponsored by the United Nations Association-USA organization at RMU.  Dr. Monique Herard, advisor of UNA-USA, explained that the event focused on Poverty and Homelessness at both a global and local level.  “The speakers, exhibits and presentations will give students an idea of not only the broad scope of poverty, but the concerted efforts of these organizations to provide assistance through different programs.”  Students were encouraged to learn about the organizations and investigate opportunities for support and volunteerism.

RMU’s UNA-USA chapter is for students and alumni with an interest in global affairs.  The organization is involved in service projects that explore diverse cultures and issues of global relevance within the framework of the United Nations’ mission to educate, inspire and mobilize support for the principles and vital work of the United Nations.
