Robert Morris University Illinois has joined with Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce to promote a new generation of leaders.

Robert Morris University Illinois (RMU) recently hosted the Emerging Leaders v3.0 Kickoff Event in cooperation with the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. Held in the University’s State Street Art Gallery at the main RMU campus, 401 S. State in downtown Chicago, the kickoff heralded a new year of events geared toward building relationships, cultivating talent and creating an inclusive community for the next generation of Chicago’s leaders. Focusing on individuals from ages 22 to 40, this Chamber sponsored program is designed to empower and engage emerging talent in the greater Chicago area by providing professional development, networking and community outreach opportunities.

Under the direction of Michael Stark, Senior Director, Corporate Relations, Emerging Leaders Chicago has enlisted the involvement of individuals from major corporations, institutions of higher education, non-profits and financial organizations as members and in leadership positions. “We are excited about ramping up our efforts this year for Emerging Leaders,” he said. “Our members bring more opportunities through their participation. They are dedicated to promoting a new generation of qualified leaders in all aspects of Chicago business, culture, education and service.” Member organizations also sponsor networking and outreach events in an effort to reach more young professionals in Chicago.

Panorea Bakutis, director of Graduate Relations for RMU’s Morris Graduate School, worked with the Chamber to organize and promote the kickoff event.

“Working with the Chicagoland Chamber is a natural fit for RMU’s Morris Graduate School,” she said. “A bachelor’s degree has become the norm, but graduate school helps set future leaders apart. Graduate degrees from the MGS are highly regarded in this increasingly competitive job market leading to this union with Emerging Leaders – a master’s degree is vital not only when seeking employment, but for career advancement, career retention, and a higher salary.”

RMU offers educational opportunities for an advanced degree, particularly for individuals who need a flexible schedule and at an accelerated pace.
