Robert Morris University was a sponsor for the Clean Slate Summit coordinated by Chicago Sky’s Sky Cares Foundation which took place on October 27th at the XS Tennis Village in Chicago. Illinois recently passed a bill that creates protection for juveniles to automatically expunge juvenile arrest records which meet qualifying criteria of lesser felony categorization. At this youth criminal expungement clinic, legal aid was present providing pro bono service hours to review arrest records of attending juveniles, and to help with the petition process to file for an expungement. Additionally, other organizations were present in providing information with services such as education and job placement.

This worthwhile event was the vision of RMU Alumna, Nicole Childers, law student and employee of Chicago Sky, who saw the benefit in bringing together lawyers providing pro bono services with a community in serious need of assistance to get on the right track towards a successful future.
