The Bachelor of Science Degree with a concentration in Exercise, Nutrition and Health Science (ENHS) is a twelve-quarter program that provides a comprehensive education to help achieve future goals in a health-related field. Students utilize this exercise, nutrition, and health education as a pre-professional foundation to apply to programs in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician’s Assistant or graduate school. Those who are interested in a health science degree, exercise science degree or nutrition degree will find this encompassing education invaluable towards a future career.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects jobs in the health field to rise 13% over the next decade, almost double the average of others careers. The Exercise, Nutrition and Health Science program will prepare students for an exciting career in a variety of health, fitness, and sport settings including. These fields include health and fitness management, exercise and health promotion, fitness program coordinator, personal trainer, exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, nutritionist, community or public health, athletic and health administration, sports performance trainer and coaching.
Comprehensive Courses for Those Seeking a Health Science Degree, Exercise Science Degree or Nutrition Degree
In addition to the required general education, science specialization and career management core at Robert Morris University, the interdisciplinary nature of the program combines program coursework in anatomy and physiology, exercise science, human nutrition, biological and health science, fitness assessment and programming with hands-on experiences. As a result, ENHS students develop knowledge and skills to create realistic exercise and nutrition plans through evaluation of client needs, expectations and lifestyle assessments. Program, class, and laboratory experiences culminate in an undergraduate capstone project directly related to a student’s professional goals.
Through the Exercise, Nutrition and Health Science program, campus facilities are complimented with experience-based learning opportunities and real-world internships and research. Hence, students will utilize our human performance lab, culinary kitchens, fitness center, athletic facilities and training rooms as a part of their exercise, nutrition and health science education.
An Advanced Health Education Created For a Successful Career
Students who earn their Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise, Nutrition and Health Science are provided the health education needed to become future leaders in the sport, exercise and nutrition industry. Furthermore, many students elect to advance their coursework by enrolling in Robert Morris University’s Master of Science in Human Performance Degree program.
Graduates from the Exercise, Nutrition and Health Science program are prepared to become certified fitness professionals through the American College of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. In addition, students begin the Coaching Principles credential and Sport First Aid credential offered through the Human Kinetics Coach Education Center prior to graduation.

Built into our Bachelor of Science in Exercise, Nutrition and Health Science is an Associate of Applied Science in Exercise and Sport Studies. This allows students to declare their bachelor’s degree completion specialization in either the Bachelor of Science in Exercise, Nutrition and Health Science, or choose to complete a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Health and Wellness.
