CCNA prepares you to be a Network Specialist, Network Administrator, and Network Support Engineer. The CCNA validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks. The topics include connecting to a WAN; implementing network security; network types; network media; routing and switching fundamentals; the TCP/IP and OSI models; IP addressing; WAN technologies; operating and configuring IOS devices; extending switched networks with VLANs; determining IP routes; managing IP traffic with access lists; establishing point-to-point connections; and establishing Frame Relay connections.

Prepare to

  • Describe the networking terminology and protocols, network standards, LANs, WANs, OSI and TCP/IP models, safety, cabling, cabling tools, outers, IP addressing and subnet masks.
  • Understand the components in a CISCO router, initial setup and programming commands for the CISCO IOS. Students configure static routing and dynamic routing with the RIP distance vector protocol.
  • Configure the routers static routing and dynamic routing. The dynamic routing focuses on the RIP, EIGRP, and OSPF protocols. Variable Length Subnet Masks are used for allocating IP addresses.
  • Explore switching fundamentals, programming of LAN Ethernet switches using Cisco IOS commands, the Spanning Tree Protocol, and VLAN implementation and VLAN trunking protocol (VTP).
  • Emphasize practical experience in skills related to configuring WAN services: modems, PPP, DSL, VPN, and Frame Relay. The course also includes an introduction to network security, network address translation, and access control lists.
